Quantum was established in 1987 as a response to the lack of residential homes for Gippsland youth. Until this time Gippsland youth were living in residential care in Melbourne. Quantum established local residential homes for local youth so that they could maintain their connection to Gippsland. Quantum Support Services prides itself on its Gippsland roots and its ability to provide support to Gippslanders, by Gippslanders.
Today Quantum provides support and care across all our local government regions to address the need of local Gippslanders. Quantum provides a range of services throughout Gippsland in the areas of Homelessness including youth crisis accommodation, Tenancy advocacy and support, Community Connections (assisting vulnerable people connecting with services, health and support providers), Family Violence for women and children, Youth programs, Youth Justice programs, Out of Home Care including Foster Care, and leads the Orange Door (Inner Gippsland) initiative.
Quantum uses its standing the Gippsland community to promote awareness and addressing social issues, and working towards creating better health and wellbeing for Gippslanders.
Quantum believes the celebration of diversity makes us and the community stronger. We are committed to embracing everyone‘s individual differences so that we can help create a strong workplace and community that is empowered to reach its potential. We celebrate diversity of abilities, genders, sexuality, and spiritual or religious belief, and all cultural backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Quantum recognises that we all have diverse life experiences that may be influenced by age, ability, social and financial status. Quantum supports everyone‘s right to feel respected, safe, welcomed and valued
Quantum Support Services is committed to the safety, wellbeing and participation of all children (birth to 18 years of age) with zero tolerance for all forms of harm and child abuse. Our commitment is based on our duty of care and responsibilities to children, always acting in their best interest, privileging their voice and rights and promoting cultural safety and connection. The Victorian and National Child Safe Standards provide the foundation of our advocacy and support of all children.
Quantum Support Services is overseen by a board of independent community members. The organisation is subject to formalised governance arrangements, included in predefined policy and procedures and aligns with an organisation constitution. The board is committed to actively participating in Quantum events that provide opportunities to enhance their knowledge of the Social Services sector in order to offer greater support to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive. Looking to the future the board continues to plan for an increased demand for service delivery, infrastructure constraint and organisational growth. The board continues to provide clear direction, financial accountability and strategic focus for the organisation while managing risk.
