Kinship First Supports

Aims to support newly established kinship care placements through the provision of comprehensive assessments, brokerage and access to increased supports. This program supports statutory kinship placements expected to last at least three months.

Who is this program for?

Kinship First Supports is for children and young people aged 0-17 and their current kinship carers.

Kinship First Supports are for Placements, established for no more than three months and expected to last longer than three weeks.

How can Kinship First Supports help me?

Kinship First Supports provides support and case management for up to 12 months for carers and the young person:

  • To strengthen the placement and address concerns.
  • To assist in the prevention of placement breakdown.
  • To provide practical supports and strategies to placements.
  • To advocate and support with appropriate referral for additional support as suitable.
What can you expect from Quantum?

You can expect:

  • To strengthen reunification, where appropriate.
  • To support children and young people living within kinship placements to thrive.
  • To promote placement stability, including reducing the likelihood of entry into residential care where possible.
Referral Pathways
  • DHHS Child Protection are the only referrer for this program.
