Quantum Support Services has been named the provider of the Rental Stress Support Program, which aims to address the increasing demand for advocacy and legal advice services in Gippsland.
Quantum Chief Executive Officer Natalie McDonald said the Rental Stress Support Program would provide crucial support to renters who do not meet the eligibility criteria of other tenancy programs currently delivered by Quantum.
“This initiative comes in response to a noticeable rise in the number of individuals experiencing housing instability, particularly those who fall outside the income or vulnerable and disadvantaged criteria of existing programs.
“We have observed a significant increase in the number of renters in Gippsland who do not qualify for other programs due to income thresholds,” Ms McDonald said.
“Recent data indicates there is a growing number of employed individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability in Gippsland. In 2022-2023, 22 per cent of those at risk of homelessness were employed, highlighting the urgent need for expanded support services.
“Our proposal for the RSSP sought to bridge this gap and ensure that all individuals facing housing challenges receive the support they need.”
Services will be accessible from Quantum’s Morwell office, but encompassing Latrobe, Baw Baw, South Gippsland and Bass Coast local government areas.
“Our deep connection and knowledge of the Gippsland community enable us to deliver targeted assistance where it’s needed most. By offering a range of engagement options, we aim to make our services accessible to all individuals facing rental stress in the region.”
