Quantum Support Services has been awarded the tender to lead a groundbreaking Homes First initiative aimed at addressing chronic homelessness and rough sleeping in Inner Gippsland. Working with Latrobe Community Health Services and Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation, Quantum will oversee a partnership that will deliver a holistic and innovative approach to housing and support services in the region.

Quantum Chief Executive Officer Natalie McDonald said the Homes First proposal united three well-established, Gippsland-based organisations dedicated to the region’s welfare.

“The Homes First service delivery model is the first of its kind in Gippsland, and features a multidisciplinary team approach. Our commitment to the evidenced-based Housing First principles will ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for those experiencing homelessness in Inner Gippsland,” Ms McDonald said.

LCHS CEO Paul Ostrowski said LCHS would provide a dual diagnosis clinician, helping people dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
“We are proud to partner in this initiative, which we think will really make a difference for people who are homeless and sleeping rough in Inner Gippsland,” Mr Ostrowski said.

Ramahyuck CEO Nancy Binotto said they were very pleased to be part of this initiative.

“This partnership would offer vulnerable Aboriginal community members the support they need in relation to their homelessness as well as their health and wellbeing needs,” Ms Binotto said.

Through Homes First each client will be offered a flexible and tailored service for a three-year period, with access to safe and secure housing, empowering them to choose their level of service intensity they want to engage in and direct their own support goals.

Clients will also have access to support for a minimum of 12 months after their initial engagement period, with potential extensions as needed. This ensures sustained support for some of the most vulnerable members of the community, aiming not only to end cycles of homelessness but also to foster sustainable livelihoods.
